Custom Enclosures Design

The enclosure is more than just a casing. It gives the electronic product its final form, character, and user interface. The shape, materials, and details of the enclosure significantly affect how users perceive, interact with, and trust the product. Because of its importance, we entrust this part of the development process to skilled industrial designers who understand both aesthetics and technical constraints.

Over the years, we’ve collaborated with several renowned design studios, most notably Gigo Design, now operating under the name SITO Design. Their expertise in combining form and function has played a key role in the success of many of our products. Working with experienced designers helps us create enclosures that are not only visually appealing but also ergonomic, durable, and production-ready.

A Collaborative Approach

Designing a custom enclosure involves a range of technical and practical considerations—from thermal management and EMC shielding to waterproofing and mechanical strength. To address these effectively, we work closely with the designer from the very beginning. Our engineering team provides all the necessary mechanical and electronic constraints, and stays involved throughout the process to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.

We always aim to synchronize enclosure development with software and hardware development. This parallel approach significantly reduces overall development time and allows us to quickly test early prototypes, catch potential issues, and adapt the design as needed.

From Concept to Production

Once the design concept is finalized, we move into the prototyping and production phase. In this stage, we collaborate with trusted partners who specialize in:

  • Toolmaking
  • Plastic injection molding
  • CNC machining
  • 3D printing
  • Surface finishing

In the past, we managed these tasks in-house with our own tools and equipment. However, over time, we found that outsourcing to specialized partners provided better flexibility, lower costs, and faster turnaround times. Today, we maintain strong relationships with these external partners, ensuring consistent quality and efficient production workflows.

Digital Design and 3D Integration

Our internal team creates mechanical models using FreeCAD, a powerful open-source 3D CAD tool. We can also generate and export 3D PCB models, which are fully compatible with industry-standard platforms such as:

  • SolidWorks
  • Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Autodesk Inventor

This interoperability allows smooth communication and collaboration between our engineers and external designers, ensuring everyone works with the most accurate mechanical and electronic models.

Whether you need a sleek consumer device, a rugged industrial housing, or a highly customized casing for a unique product, we can support you throughout the entire enclosure design process—from initial sketches to mass production.
